Cultivated Chicken in US Pet Feed: Further Foods, and its pet food brand Noochies! is designing a target animal safety study to establish that cell-based chicken in pet food formulations is safe and effective. They plan to submit the study to the US FDA later this month and to start the study at the end of Q4, 2024. Read more.
Finnish Funding For Precision-Fermented Egg Protein: Finnish startup Onego Bio has received a further €14M in investment to advance production, anticipating US regulatory approval for its precision-fermented egg protein. The financing will also be used in the EU, where it plans to submit a dossier for novel food approval to the European Food Safety Authority. Read more.
German Opinion on Maximum PFAS Levels in Animal Feed: The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, BfR, updated their opinion on maximum PFAS levels in feed based on new animal studies. Since January 2023, maximum levels PFAS have applied in foods of animal origin in the EU. According to the BfR's assessment, feed with a PFAS level below the calculated values does not lead to the maximum levels in food of animal origin being exceeded. Read more.
