Steaks grown from human cells spark interest and outrage
Orkan Telhan, an artist and associate professor of fine arts at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, collaborated with scientist to create a steak grown from human cells. Called “Ouroboros Steak,” the project is on display as an art installation at the Design Museum in London. Intended to satirically examine the increasing demand for meat products around the world, as well as to focus on environmental responsibility in the clean-meat industry, the installation has created a debated regarding bioethics.
