We were thrilled to host another CMSI Phase 3 working session earlier this month in collaboration with New Harvest! Thank you to all our participants for sharing their insights on addressing cultured meat safety research priorities. We had many fantastic discussions at the working session and are excited for the research collaborations to follow! FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine Animal Feed Update
In August 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) announced that its longstanding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) would expire on October 1, 2024. Via this MoU, FDA provided scientific and technical assistance to AAFCO to support its ingredient definition request process.
Canada’s Chemical Safety Plan: Prioritizing Nanomaterials and New Approach Methodologies
Canada’s Proposed Plan of Priorities, released by Environment and Climate Change Canada and Health Canada in October 2024, outlines the government’s strategy and priorities to protect human and environmental health over the next few years through chemical management. The Plan includes which substances are prioritized for safety assessment, activities to manage chemical risks, and the development of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to replace animal testing.
