FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine Animal Feed Update
In August 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) announced that its longstanding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) would expire on October 1, 2024. Via this MoU, FDA provided scientific and technical assistance to AAFCO to support its ingredient definition request process.
Vireo Advisors Has Published the Safer-by-Design Toolbox (SbD Toolbox) to Screen the Safety of Novel Forms of Cellulose Materials
The toolbox includes a suite of physical, chemical, and toxicological testing methods for pre-commercial safety evaluations, as well as compendium of safety data that has been generated to date for first generation cellulose materials (e.g., unmodified MFC) and priority second generation CNs including sulfated (acid hydrolyzed) and carboxyl (TEMPO-oxidized, periodate-chlorite oxidized) surface chemistries.
