2024 TAPPI Nanotechnology Conference

  • Westin Buckhead Atlanta USA (map)

Building from the Bottom Up: Shaping a Sustainable World using Renewable Nanomaterials.

The 2024 TAPPI Nanotechnology Conference will address the latest technical developments and applications. Vireo Advisors is proud to take a leadership role in the program again this year.

Jo Anne Shatkin will discuss an approach for estimating greenhouse gas emission impacts of biobased packaging.

Yueyang (Brian) Zhang will present a methodology for evaluating if microfibrillated cellulose meets the European Commission’s regulatory definition of a nanomaterial.

Kora Kukk will provide an overview of the properties of microfibrillated cellulose, which make it a potential candidate for use in food contact and food additive applications and for cultured meat scaffolds.

James Ede will highlight the use of new approach methodologies or alternative testing strategies to evaluate the safety of cellulose nanomaterials. He will also describe a recently completed three-year project funded by P3Nano to develop a ‘Safer-by-Design Toolbox’ (SbD Toolbox) for these commercially attractive new materials.

Vireo Advisors will also provide a Cellulose Nanomaterial Safety and Regulatory Update Workshop on Monday, 10 June, from 10 am to 12 pm. We will describe the state of knowledge and practical considerations for meeting regulatory and customer requirements and share current and emerging policies from around the globe.
