Large Industrial Consortium & VTT Technical Research of Finland Launch EUR 4.5 Million Future Fibre Products Project

Thirty-three companies have come together, along with VTT Technical Research of Finland, to develop sustainable forest products which could be used as an alternative to petroleum based materials such as plastics. The project is being coordinated by VTT, and will aim to take lab-based research into pilot scale demonstrations for a variety of products, beginning in early 2018. The project will also examine how the "current paper and board production infrastructure can be utilized in the field of new packaging solutions, non-woven materials, porous insulation materials, or even as replacements for EPS-based materials." For more information on the project, including a list of the companies participating, visit the VTT website.
