EPA Releases Final Renewable Fuel Standards for 2018 and the Biomass-Based Diesel Volume for 2019

On November 30, 2017, the EPA released the final 2018 volume requirements for cellulosic biofuel, advanced biofuel, and total renewable fuel, as well as the 2019 requirements for biomass-based diesel under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program.  The action establishes annual percentage standards and apply to gasoline and diesel transportation fuel produced or imported in 2018. This final rule is effective on February 12, 2018. To review the final volume requirements under this rule, please see the table found on the EPA website.

The RFS Program was created in hopes of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding the U.S. renewable fuels sector while reducing oil import.
