Switzerland Adopts New Disclosure Rules for Synthetic Nanomaterials
In response to a stakeholder consultation in 2017, Switzerland adopted new disclosure rules for some synthetic fibrous or tubular nanomaterials on January 31, 2018. The final changes to the Swiss Chemicals Ordinance (ChemO) require that the following substances are to be reported beginning March 1, 2018, within three months of commercialization:
- Nanomaterials commercially available in Switzerland that are poor soluble, biopersistent, and are in the form of fibers or tubes longer than five micrometers.
- In any amount, from less than one kilogram to more than 100 tons.
