NanoAOP Workshop coordinated by Vireo Advisors to be held at NanoTox 2018- 9th International Conference on Nanotoxicology
The 2018 Nanotox Conference 19-21 September is being held in Neuss, Germany, with sessions examining the current status of hazard and exposure assessment for emerging nanomaterials. Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP) as a framework for risk assessment of nanomaterials will be a hot topic at this year’s conference, including a plenary session and evening workshop presented by the project partners of the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials NanoAOP project, in collaboration with SmartNanoTox, an EU Horizon2020 project focused on AOP development. AOPs link observed mechanisms of toxicity to biological outcomes and may advance the use of alternative testing strategies in hazard characterization. Dr. Jo Anne Shatkin will be co-chairing the plenary session with Vireo Advisor's Dr. James Ede presenting on "Adverse Outcome Pathways as Tools for the Risk Assessment of Nanomaterials".
The 19 September evening workshop will include international experts from industry, government, and academia deliberating on the current status, use, and future needs for AOPs as tools for the risk assessment of nanomaterials. The workshop format will be interactive and includes two panel discussions, deliberations, and vetting of ideas; one panel will focus on AOPs through the lens of nanotoxicology; the other on the use of AOPs for the risk assessment of MNs. All conference participants are welcome to attend!
