Ginkgo Bioworks and Cronos Group Partner to Produce Cultured Cannabinoids

Ginkgo Bioworks and Cronos Group recently announced their partnership to produce cultured cannabinoids on a large scale in Canada. The health benefits of cannabinoids are vast and range from managing chronic pain, nervous disorders, nausea, weight loss, and some mental illnesses. Cannabinoids are currently only available in low quantities in the cannabis plant. Ginkgo Bioworks will use their synthetic biology platform to design strains of yeast that produce cultured cannabinoids. The technology will allow the production of cannabinoids with high quality and purity and make the benefits of cannabinoids more accessible and affordable.
