Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Request Information on the Bioeconomy
The OSTP is requesting input on the U.S. Bioeconomy by October 22, 2019 from stakeholders, including investors, researchers and commercial/industrial ventures developing platforms or applications in healthcare, medicine, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, manufacturing, energy production, and agriculture. The bioeconomy is: “The global industrial transition of sustainably utilizing renewable aquatic and terrestrial biomass resources in energy, intermediate, and final products for economic, environmental, social, and national security benefits”. Within this definition, the Bioeconomy Initiative focuses on biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower produced from renewable biomass material and wastes”. The comments will help inform the Federal government’s decision making and establish the United States guiding values and principles in the promotion and protection of the U.S. Bioeconomy.
