PrimaLoft Developing Biodegradable Polyesters

PrimaLoft has developed a recycled polyester polymer with an attached simple sugar to enhance the material’s susceptibility to biodegradation. The fibers biodegrade exponentially faster than conventional counterparts in laboratory tests.

A number of major retailers, including L. L. Bean, are creating concept jackets using the material, and products could be available to consumers as early as next year.
