Using Eggshells to Grow Bones

A team of researchers from the University of Massachusetts Lowell has discovered a way to grow and heal bones using eggshells from chickens. The crushed eggshells are combined with a polymer mixture to create a frame for bone growth. When bone cells are added to the mixture, the resulting bone has a higher mineral content than bone grafts produced using traditional methods.
