European environment ministers discuss plans to phase out PFAs chemicals by 2030

PFAS compounds are ubiquitous in the environment including in humans, and while known to be very persistent, mobile and toxic, while also have long been used in firefighting foam, cosmetics, food packaging and non-stick coatings. At an EU Council meeting in December, a strategy was discussed to prohibit future use of PFAs, and to work to manage existing exposures.
