A Greener Starbucks

Starbucks is developing a recyclable, compostable solution to their hot beverage cup as part of their plan to decrease their impact on the environment. The BioPBS coated paper cup replaces the thin plastic liner currently in their hot beverage cups with fully compostable materials. The prototype is currently being tested in select stores in Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, New York and London. This effort is part of Starbucks multi-decade initiative to become “resource positive”. Other goals of the initiative include:

1. Offering more plant-based menu items.

2. Investing in "innovative and regenerative agricultural practices, reforestation, forest conservation, and water replenishment" in its supply chain.

3. Managing food waste.

4. Creating more eco-friendly stores, operations, manufacturing, and delivery.
