US Officials Turn to a New Testing Strategy as Infections Surge

The federal government plans to implement a pooled testing strategy, which would increase dramatically the number of tests, enabling frequent surveillance of asymptomatic people and allow for widespread tracking of the virus. Currently, experts are discussing how the country will use this technique, as well as how to meet the demand for the chemicals required for the diagnostic tests resulting from pooled testing.
