REACH Registration for Graphene and Graphene Oxide achieved by the Graphene REACH Registration Consortium

The Graphene REACH Registration Consortium, which includes companies such as The Sixth Element Material Technology and Applied Graphene Materials, have registered graphene (CAS 1034343-98-0) and graphene oxide through the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), allowing for sales up to 10 tons per annum in the European Market.

As part of the registration, the consortium submitted data on a 28-day inhalation rat study; results of the study demonstrated low toxicity of graphene, and concluded with a no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) ≥1.88 mg/m3 (the highest concentration tested).

There are plans to submit a joint registration dossier for reduced graphene oxide by the end of 2018.
