Canada Bans Asbestos

Asbestos will be prohibited in Canada by December 30, 2018 according to new rules published in the Canada Gazette, Part II in October 2018. The Prohibition of Asbestos and Products Containing Asbestos Regulations (the Regulations) and the related amendments to the Export of Substances on the Export Control List Regulations (ESECLR Amendments) will ban the import, sale and use of asbestos, as well as the manufacturing, sale, import or use of any products containing the material (with a few exceptions). Environment and Climate Change Canada will hold a webinar concerning the new rule on November 27, 2018.
