NIOSH and Harvard Promote Access to Occupational Health and Safety Information
Wikipedia, ‘The Free Encyclopedia’ is a platform used by millions of people to easily gain access to important information. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has worked since 2012 to expand and update entries on Occupational Safety and Health to promote public accessibility to this information. NIOSH has now partnered with universities, encouraging students to participate in updating and editing the platform. Students in the ‘Introduction to the Workplace Environment’ at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health are now updating the platform as part of their final projects. Recent entries include case studies examining heavy metal exposure in electronic waste processing facilities and exposure of U.S. Air Force pilots to hydrazine, a chemical used in rocket fuel.
